As winter approaches Shell Gas (LPG) is launching a new service for care homes in the UK to ensure a dependable supply of energy throughout the colder months. Shell Gas (LPG) is launching a service where every care home using LPG from Shell can receive a free Telemetry system which wirelessly monitors levels of fuel at the home. This will allow Shell Gas (LPG) to remotely check that care homes aren't running low on fuel and if particularly bad weather is predicted the company can also ensure that every care home has sufficient fuel to last out the bad weather.

With winter weather being so unpredictable care homes cannot afford to run out of fuel. Reliable energy is paramount to ensuring a comfortable atmosphere for care home residents, providing adequate heating, hot water and enabling the home to cook hot food.

Rush Court Care Home, operated by Elizabeth Finn Homes Limited, has been using LPG in conjunction with Shell's telemetry service for two years. Martyn Carter, Director of Property Services at Elizabeth Finn Care, says: "we converted to LPG when we refurbished the home in the late 1990s, and currently use it for catering and laundry services at Rush Court. Shell has been supplying our LPG for the last two years; we moved to them because of their competitive rates, superior service and innovative telemetry monitoring which means that we always have an adequate supply of energy. It's this reassurance that really makes a difference."

Another benefit of using LPG is that it enables customers to reduce their carbon footprint, as it produces fewer harmful emissions when burned and significantly less CO2 than other types of fuel.

Shell Gas (LPG)'s telemetry system allows remote measurement and reporting of information from LPG bulk vessels, transferring the data back to headquarters. Thanks to this, Shell Gas (LPG) can monitor the levels of LPG a customer has left and resupply before their bulk vessel empties. This high level of customer service is particularly important for care homes as cold weather approaches, in order to provide a reliable and constant energy source for residents.
