NPA Chief Executive John Turk told the Convention delegates that everyone involved in community pharmacy, including community pharmacists themselves, must work together to transform and expand the sector.

Acknowledging that community pharmacy has had a painful time of late, Mr Turk called for collective action. He spoke of the need to focus less inwardly and more on the strength that would come from standing together - so vital in times of change.

Mr Turk spoke of the NPA's aim to provide inspirational leadership to community pharmacy through powerful representation, innovative support services and expanded protection of members' interests in their expanded role.

Mr Turk said: "I believe that community pharmacy is stronger together than apart, that we gain our strength from the strength of our membership and that we need to be strong on behalf of our members. Working collaboratively for the benefit of community pharmacy is the key to success - we all serve the same members. Unity of purpose will bring us together and will lead to strength and success for the sector."
