The Information Commissioner's office (ICO) has confirmed that the Information Commissioner has "many concerns" with regard to the proposed NHS Database and that "high level" confidential discussions between the Information Commissioners Office and "Connecting for Health" are on going. The ICO has also provided detailed guidance which must oblige changes to the National Care Records Guarantee and the patient information which derives from it, so that patients must be informed of their right not to have their data recorded on the National NHS Database.
